Haiti Earthquake Relief
Thus far we have been able to amass a bit of financial support that went primarily to assist Light Ministries Inc. headed by Terry and Cary Nelson since 1980. That immediate need went toward medical supplies that were already shipped and distributed in their ministry base. Another part of the financial support went to assist Pastor Carlo Thomas. Pastor Jean Carlo Thomas, founder of New World Mission, not only is a pastor involved with many churches on the island of Haiti, but also as administrator of local schools in Balix, Meyer, Roche a Bateau, Cog Chante and St. Louis, Haiti. The needs are phenomenal. In attempting to not “reinvent the wheel” we partnered with longtime ministry friends in the States that were able to ship the needed supplies immediately to these ministry stations.
Solera will continue to partner with these two ministries through their USA counterparts as well as with Food for the Poor. Our next mission effort is to supply needed funds to FFTP, the largest food relief agency in the world and needed food and water supplies. They are currently feeding hot meals to over 20,000 people on the ground. All monies collected will go towards these projects for the express purpose of supplying Haiti in the best and most efficient way.
We are collecting food items for Food for the Poor at our church that meet their criteria. ONLY THE FOLLOWING ITEMS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR DELIVERY TO FFTP:
- Canned Meats
- Canned Mackerel
- Canned Sardines
